DALLAS – Police have ruled the death of a 3-year-old Dallas boy a homicide and they have arrested his dad’s girlfriend.

Jacob Armani Jones was reported dead Tuesday night by staffers at Methodist Hospital. He had been visiting his biological father, who told doctors he choked on a piece of food.

But the boy’s biological mother said she didn’t believe her son choked to death.

“In the left and the right eye he had blood clots. He had bruises all the way up and down his arms. His left arm looked like it had been detached like it was hanging,” said Falencia Bullock.

Investigators apparently didn’t believe the choking story either.

Police said it’s not uncommon for child abuse investigators to be called to the scene when a child dies suddenly. They questioned family members.

A medical examiner also determined the boy died from multiple blunt force injuries, a skull fracture and bi-lateral hemorrhages.

On Wednesday, officers arrested 24-year-old Monique Shaunta Johnson, the boy’s father’s girlfriend. Police believe she beat the boy.

Johnson now faces capital murder charges.
