McALLEN, Texas – A 31-year-old former Texas state trooper has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for cocaine trafficking.

The U.S. attorney’s office says U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen sentenced former Department of Public Safety trooper Jesus Rafael Larrazolo in Brownsville on Tuesday.

While working as an officer, he was accused of possessing 57 pounds of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Larrazolo pleaded guilty after Brownsville police arrested him last November.

He was spotted transferring two suitcases carrying cocaine into his truck in a parking lot.
