LeBron has been crowned the undisputed “King” of the NBA after winning back to back NBA Titles and two straight Most Valuable Player Awards. James has been linked to Jordan ever since his days as a high school phenom on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Boxing great Floyd Mayweather took his stand on the on-going debate of whether LeBron James  is a better player than Michael Jordan.

Many fans opinions dealing with this debate are based on how the players made them feel emotionally. ESPN correspondent Jemelle Hill recently tweeted about the hot topic stating that “My point is just that sports is about evolution. And often who we consider to be the greatest is linked to how they made us feel emotionally.” Hill’s statement dealt with the fact that some fans have such a strong emotional attachment to Jordan and will always believe Jordan’s The G.O.A.T. no matter what any other ball player accomplishes.

Floyd Mayweather could have been influenced emotionally by the fact that he constantly bets on LeBron James and the Heat to win playoff games. Mayweather supposedly placed a $5.9 million wager on James and company winning Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

The LeBron vs Jordan debate will go on long after James career is over, just like Kobe vs Jordan comparisons will stick around for the long hall. Kobe Bryant was the face of the league for over a decade and his similarities to Jordan are still remarkable. Since Kobe is out of his prime, fans are quick to disregard his career greatness. My point is that LeBron has a long ways to go and that the same individuals who are ready to crown him as the G.O.A.T. will jump off the bandwagon if he doesn’t deliver a ring in the next 2-3 years.
