The Latino Cultural Center is pleased to offer local Latino student bands the opportunity to win up to $5,000 in scholarships for their future education!
The Ford Foundation has generously donated funds for a Battle of the Bands to take place in conjunction with the American Sabor exhibition which will run at the LCC from March 24- June 17, 2012.
The American Sabor Battle of the Bands is targeted to reach Latino student based bands. There will be two categories for students to compete in: High School/Community Center and College/University bands. Bands must be comprised of students affiliated with a local high school, community center, college or university and bands must perform Latin/Hispanic music such as Latin Jazz, Spanish Rock, Reggeaton, Tejano, Spanish Hip-Hop (can be bilingual)etc.
While not all students in the band have to be Latino or of Hispanic heritage, we STRONGLY encourage Latino students to audition.
Deadline to submit audition material is Friday April 20, 2012 at 5 p.m.
American Sabor Battle of the Bands will be April 28, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
