FORT WORTH – Flash flooding in Fort Worth yesterday evening stranded drivers and flooded businesses.

At the intersection of Eighth Avenue and West Arlington Avenue water covered the intersection, and poured into a nearby store. The current was strong, moving a large dumpster from one parking lot across the street to another lot. At least two cars didn’t make it through the water. Firefighters helped the drivers to safety. One of the cars was pushed out of the water, while another was eventually moved by a tow truck.

The street reappeared at the Eighth Avenue scene within an hour. Several miles away, however, on Northside Drive, water remained at chest level after sunset. Two more cars at that scene were partially submerged. Drivers and witnesses say no one was hurt.
