DALLAS – A woman was arrested Friday for allegedly running a bootleg operation out of her Dallas apartment.
According to a release, Dallas County sheriff’s deputies acted on a tip from the Motion Picture Association and conducted surveillance of an apartment in the 3300 block of Webb Chapel Boulevard.
They obtained a warrant and seized thousands of pirated music and video DVDs, including the move “Surrogate,” which is still in theaters.
The bootleg collection was valued at nearly $200,000, according to the release.
Deputies also confiscated about 30 DVD burners and large quantities of paper and ink to make disc labels.
The suspect, 46-year old Leticia Martinez, was arrested Friday and is currently out on bond.
She faces a fine of $250,000 and up to 5 years in prison.
