DFW please allow me to introduce you one of DC’s best kept secrets: The Crossrhodes. The conscious Hip-Hop group, comprised of Grammy-nominated R&B artist Raheem DeVaughn and lyricist Wes Felton, made a name for themselves in the underground live music scene of the Nation’s Capital thanks to their lush neo-soul crooning and socially aware, relevant and no holds bar word play. Both artists are the sons of Jazz musicians and they seek to be a voice for the minority community affected by the current state of social unrest. DeVaughn describes the project as “the soundtrack to the #BlackLivesMatter movement.”

Check out their historical performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts yesterday in Washington, D.C. in the clip below.

The two have decided to reunite, in the wake of the Baltimore riots and non-indictment of the police officers involved in the murder of Freddie Gray, to raise our consciousness and encourage us to change frequencies and vibrate higher. You can expect the full project this Fall, but first, get into their debut street single “Footprints on the Moon” available on iTunes now. Preview it here:
