George Zimmerman made an urgent 911 call on Sunday after he was punched in the face for bragging that he shot Trayvon Martin, witnesses told police, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

The Seminole County Sherriff’s Office told The Sentinel that the incident happened at a Sanford, Florida, restaurant. Zimmerman walked to a table to compliment a man on his Confederate flag tattoos. The tattooed man, Joseph Whitmer, thanked him. He recognized Zimmerman, who pulled out his ID to prove his identity.

That’s when another man who overheard the conversation approached Zimmerman and asked, “You’re bragging about that?”

The police report states that Zimmerman said he wasn’t bragging, but the man, who has been identified only as Eddie, told him, “You better get the [expletive] out of here.”

Instead of leaving, Zimmerman went back to his own table, where he was eating with friends. Eddie approached Zimmerman and punched him in the face. The restaurant’s staff broke up the fight.

After the scuffle, Zimmerman placed a 911 call, urging the dispatcher to send the police quickly because he feared for his life. WFTW obtained and posted the raw audio of his call.

“This man just punched me in the face,” he told the dispatcher. “He said he’s gonna kill me. You need to send like three or four cops, I don’t know.”

In 2012, Zimmerman fatally shot Martin, an unarmed Black teenager, who was walking home after purchasing a package of Skittles and a can of Arizona Iced Tea in Sanford. A Florida jury acquitted him one year later, which set off widespread protests.

Since then, Zimmerman has been in a number of incidents. The Washington Post published a rundown.

It appears that Zimmerman is willing do anything to remain in the news. Do you agree? Let us know in comments.
