Shallow Hal actor Joshua Shintani has died at the age of 32 years old. He passed away after suffering from a severe case of pneumonia, according to new reports.

From PEOPLE:

Shintani’s mother took him to an emergency room on Kauai in Hawaii early last week, where he was diagnosed with an advanced case of pneumonia, according to TMZ. He reportedly died on Wednesday.

Shintani played the ukulele and sang “Never Forget Where I’m From” in the 2001 film Shallow Hal, which starred Gwyneth Paltrow and Jack Black.

Shintani was discovered by the film’s director Peter Farrelly, who saw him playing his ukulele outside of a public library in Hawaii. Farrelly flew Shintani to L.A. for a screen test and he immediately got the gig.

May he rest in peace.
