Father time has caught up with Kobe Bryant and now he has announced that his career his coming to an close. In a poem on the Players Tribune, Bryant announced  his decision. to retire. This season Kobe is averaging a career low 15.7 points per game after battling injuries to his knees, achilles and shoulder the last 3 seasons.

“This season is all I have left to give,” the 37-year-old wrote.

Bryant was selected with the 13th pick of the 1996 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets right out of  Lower Merion High School. The same day Bryant was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for center Vlade Divac. Bryant is a 5-time NBA champion, MVP of the 2007-08 season and has the most points of any player not named Wilt Chamberlain in a game with 81.
