Ft. Worth’s first African-American police chief will assume his new position next month. Joel Fitzgerald, who beat out five other finalists for the job led a department of 200 officers for the past few years in Pennsylvania and holds degrees from Harvard and Northwestern universities.
“Chief Fitzgerald will be a dynamic asset to Fort Worth,” said city manager David Cooke.
