After outing Drake for allegedly using a ghostwriter, Meek Mill has made the name Quentin Miller famous this week.

Funk Flex added fuel to the fire by releasing three reference tracks made by Quentin Miller for Drake to use. This may be news to Meek Mill, but it isn’t the first time an artist got help pushing their pen.

But “real” hip-hop fans, and artists alike, feel that getting assistance with your rhymes defeats the purpose of being an MC. Take it from Kendrick Lamar, who rapped in “King Kunta,” “But a rapper with a ghostwriter? What the f–k happened?”

Check out our list of songs written by other artists:

1. Kanye West “Jesus Walks”

Not only was Rhymefest credited as one of the writers for the Yeezy hit, but he performed his version of the track before Ye’s was released. Watch it above. Complex reports: “It is a well-known fact that Rhymefest has been one of many contributors to Kanye’s music throughout the years. Despite only making a vocal appearance on the UK edition of Late Registration, he has even received writing credits on Kanye’s most recent work, Yeezus.”

2. Lil Kim “Crush On You”

Cam’ron claims that he penned one of Kim’s biggest hits. In a 2011 interview with XXL, the Dipset Diplomat revealed:

“What happened was, Un [Rivera] gave Mase $30,000 to write five songs for Lil’ Cease at that time and Mase gave me $5,000 of the 30 to write one or two of the songs. I wrote the ‘Crush on You’ song and they ended up keeping it for Lil’ Kim album but it was really for Lil’ Cease. The original ‘Crush on You’ is all Lil’ Cease, Lil’ Kim isn’t even on the record.”

3. Bugs Bunny “Buggin’ (Space Jam)”

Jay Z lent Bugs Bunny his bars for the 1996 film Space Jam.

4. Kanye West “Champion”

Consequence has admitted to writing for Kanye for years – including bars for the song “Champion.”

Via MTV: “One record that I never got credit for which always stuck out in my mind was that I helped out with some of the rhymes from ’Champion,’” Cons said of the 2007 song that appeared ’Ye’s Graduation LP. The line in question: “We were sorta like Will Smith and his son/ In the movie; I ain’t talkin’ about the rich one.” “That was my brain thought,” Cons said of the rhymes. “I mean, there’s a lot of joints [that were not credited].”

5. Drake “R.I.C.O”

The Meek Mill banger featuring Drake is what set off the now infamous allegations that Drake doesn’t write his own rhymes. Funk Flex released the reference track by rapper Quentin Miller.

6. Diddy “Same Damn Time Remix”

King Los revealed on The Breakfast Club that he is the genius behind Diddy’s fire verse on Future’s “Same Damn Time” Remix.

7. Will Smith “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”

Many were surprised to find out that conscious MC Nas was the brains behind Will Smith’s hit single “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It.” He even penned Will’s track “Miami.” Nas was diplomatic about it though, telling Reddit users, “Alright, let’s clear this up once and for all. I hung out with Will in the studio. And watched him write it. It was a fun studio session, and I said a line or two or three to him. It wasn’t that serious. Will Smith wrote that song. But seriously, I watched him have fun making that record on his own, and Will is a true MC.”

8. Dr. Dre “Still D.R.E”

One of Dre’s biggest hits, ‘”Still D.R.E,’” was written by none other than Jay Z. Snoop Dogg revealed: “When we was trying to write D.R.E., we all took a shot at it, but we all couldn’t come up with nothing as dope as Jay-Z. So we had to take a backseat and say “ok, his sh*t is doper than everybody else’s sh*t, that done wrote something. So, he’s the winner, we gonna do what he say.”

9. Nas N*gger Album

According to various reports, Nas’ entire N*gger album was written largely by Stic of dead prez and Jay Electronica. However Stic denies it. Vibe reports: “We were the only three in the studio,” he says of dead prez’ experience with recording with Nas. “So it’s kind of like, well, who are all the people that are saying how the record was created? They wasn’t even there.”

10. Dr. Dre “I Need A Doctor”

It’s no secret that Dr. Dre gets assistance with his bars. Another huge hit for the producer, “I Need A Doctor,” was written by his protegé Eminem.
