This must be a stick up because Beyoncé is being sued (again) for supposedly stealing her hit single “XO.”

For a song that’s supposed to be all about love, the light-hearted track is inspiring a lot of animosity. RadarOnline.com reports that a man named Ahmad Lane has accused Queen Bey of jacking his song even though he’s never met her.

Lane reportedly claims that he’d given his song “XOXO” to a woman named Chrissy Collins, who now provides backup vocals for Beyoncé. His suit implies that she then passed it along to the diva, who allegedly swiped the song for herself and turned into a smash.

Beyoncé responded to the accusations in court documents filed June 4, calling Lane’s claims “vague and cryptic.” Pointing to the fact that she has 17 Grammys to her name and more than 118 million albums sold worldwide, Bey’s team argues that she’s got no need to steal tunes from anyone.

“The two works at issue are entirely different songs that share no lyrical or musical similarity, other than perhaps the letters ‘X’ and ‘O,’” Beyoncé’s court documents state. Furthermore, her legal team pointed out in the response that Lane never filed a “copyright registration” for his song “XOXO.”

That’s not how he sees it, though! Lane alleged in his suit that Beyoncé’s track “copies the first four bars of an eight bar melody that is looped” and “contains a four note sequence that is similar to the four note sequence” from his song.

This isn’t the first time that he has come after Bey over “XO.” Back in November, TMZ.com reported that Ahmad wanted $3 million from her for the alleged theft. Now he’s more than doubled that ransom since he’s seeking $7 million this time.
