Former Virginia delegate Joe Morrissey served six months in jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor after being accused of having an affair with his then 17-year-old African American secretary.

The 57-year-old was accused of having an affair with and impregnating his teenage secretary, charges he’d always unconvincingly denied, reports pop culture site, Jezebel.

Jezebel reports:

Morrissey was accused of having an affair with Myrna Pride, a secretary at his law office, when she was 17. He entered an Alford plea on the delinquency charges in December 2014, an admission that the state had enough evidence to find him guilty but without his actually admitting guilt. Pride had her baby in March. Morrissey was reportedly present for the birth.

Then,  about a week ago, Morrissey gave a local reporter a photo of himself, his former secretary and the baby dressed to the nines in antebellum gear (Sally Hemmings flashbacks much?)

On May 14, he gave Joe St. George, a reporter for WTVR CBS 6 in Richmond posted a photo of the family. At that time the reporter asked him if this is an admission that he fathered the child, and he said “no” and walked away.

But apparently, he finally admitted it a few days ago to another media outlet.

Morrissey has vacated his delegate’s seat and he and the girl’s father both face new criminal charges of felony forgery as well as perjury, according to Jezebel.
