Nicki Minaj had an interesting year, but she’s kept a pretty low profile, even amid dating rumors surrounding her bond with Meek Mill, a Tyga rift and a Cash Money dispute between Lil Wayne and Baby. Thanks to her recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, Nicki finally opened up about all of these topics.
One that’s had to be particularly tough to deal with is the Cash Money dispute between Wayne and Birdman. When asked who she’d side with, Nicki politely explained that she doesn’t think that will be a necessary choice.
Nicki Minaj On Lil Wayne/Birdman Feud: “They’re Gonna Get Through It”
“People know I love Wayne and I have loyalty towards him, but I love Baby, too,” she said. “So I’m banking on the fact that they’re going to work this out like family. They’ve gone through things before just like family does, and it is what it is. They’re gonna get through it. I’m not even gonna think that way.”
Nicki Minaj On Tyga: “I Thought It Was Disrespectful”
Still, another Cash Money-related dispute came into the conversation when she was asked about the perceived rift between her and Tyga, who also has been feuding with Drake.
According to Nicki, the problems began when she crafted “Truffle Butter” with King Gold Chains. She said the cut was meant for her album, but that she believed Tyga leaked it.
“I thought that was a little bit disrespectful, because I had always shown him love,” she explained. “I had always done stuff with him, took him on tour with me and I thought it was disrespectful because I am the Queen of Young Money.”
After this, Tyga told Vibe that he and Nicki didn’t get along and that he was trying to distance himself from Minaj and Drake. Nicki didn’t specify if this was what she meant, but she said that Tyga “said some stuff” that she didn’t “feel.” Still, according to Nicki, Tyga sent her apologetic text messages after this. So, she said, “it’s all good” between them now.
Nicki Minaj On Meek Mill: “We’re Just Super Compatible”
Finally, Nicki also opened up a bit about her rumored romantic relationship with Meek Mill. “We’re just super compatible,” she explained. “We just be having fun together.”
With all of these feuds surrounding her, plus her breakup from her longtime boyfriend last year, it’s clear some fun has been important.
