Popular jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove just had a recent brush with the law that turned out a lot better than it could have. The musician plead guilty to cocaine possession in New York City and got off with a light slap on the wrist.

As the story goes, Hargrove was arrested and charged with misdemeanor cocaine possession in the early morning hours of April 5th in Manhattan after police spotted him getting into the car of a known coke dealer. Since he plead guilty to cocaine possession, Hargrove’s sentence was light compared to other drug arrests. Roy Hargrove was sentenced to two days of community service. Here’s the kicker, once the community service is completed, the misdemeanor will be downgraded to a violation and he’ll wind up with no criminal record.

Roy Hargrove is known for having worked with Soul/R&B’s elite like Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Wynton Marsalis, and Common among others. Hopefully, after he’s done with the community device, some of his celebrity friends can help him kick the nose candy habit.
