It’s hard to believe that our beloved Lisa Nicole Lopes, better known simply as “Left Eye” and one-third of the four-time Grammy-winning R&B trio TLC, has been gone for nearly a decade.

Born May 27, 1971, Left Eye seemed destined to reach stardom from day one. Rapping, singing, dancing, and writing her way to the top, she and the members of TLC (T-Boz and Chilli) are what we now know as music icons, trendsetters and the real reason that R&B music is where it is today. Since their debut back in 1991, the trio blessed us with many familiar hits including “What About Your Friends,” “Creep,” “Waterfalls,” and “No Scrubs.”

Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes departed this world far too soon devastating many on April 25, 2002, after a fatal car accident in Honduras took her life. The world still hasn’t quite come to terms with the tragic end to the superstar’s life and career, but we know that she’s somewhere in heaven looking down on each of us reminding us to live each day as if it is our last.

Today we salute the life, legacy, music and memory of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
